Sound Baths & Meditation
What is a sound bath?
If you haven’t had a sound bath before, you are in for a treat. As a certified Sound Practitioner, I create soothing, relaxing music from crystal alchemy bowls and chimes. You simply lay down and soak in the calming vibrations of the bowls.
Your private sound bath session will include an approximate 30 min consultation where I get to know you and where you are in life, so that shape our session for your individual needs. At our session, you will lay down in a comfortable position throughout the sound bowl session. I will guide you, based on our consultation, through a meditation/visualization and then you will be immersed in only the sounds of the instruments. After 35-40 minutes, I will guide you back and close our session.
Meditation
I am a certified instructor for a silent mantra based form of meditation. This means, you are given a specific mantra that you silently repeat for a given amount of time. I also instruct guided meditations, body scan meditations, breathing techniques and loving kindness.
You may find yourself saying “I can’t meditate,” so let’s talk about the most common misconception of meditation. Many people think the goal is to silence your mind, and end up being frustrated at the inability to do this. That is not the goal of meditation. The goal is simply to notice when your mind is running away with itself and bring it back to your mantra, your breath, your body - whatever the object of your meditation is. With repetition and consistency, the space of no chatter becomes greater.
Why does
this matter?
As the gaps of quiet, even small ones, become more frequent and longer, you have more agency over your thoughts. When you have more agency over your thoughts, you don’t react to situations in the same way. You may notice that you have a pause before saying something you might regret, or that you can see a situation from a different point of view that allows connection.
